PES Mistakes To Avoid

Hello PES 2010 Fans,

I would like to share with you some of the mistakes I made while playing PES, so you would take note and avoid them.

Focusing Too Much on the Radar

I stated that it is important to look at the radar while playing PES.
However, at times, i realised that i focused too much on the radar and not on the field at all! I am too busy looking for free players to pass to, that I made a pass almost immediately after receiving the ball.

Not Drawing Defenders Out

As we all know, the purpose of passing the ball is to draw the opponents out and confuse them. A good way to do this is to hold on to the ball, enticing opponents to pressure you. This creates space for your teammates to run into, so you would be able to make a pass forward. Since an opponent had moved towards you to pressure the ball, they would have one less man defending the goal, making it easier for you to attack.

So, passing the ball too quickly in PES around is a bad choice, since you are not drawing any opponent towards you. The opponents’ defence would be crowded, and your attacking options would be limited. In addition, once they rob you of the ball with their sheer numbers, you would be prone to a counter-attack!

If players have trouble mounting an attack, perhaps the over-reliance on radar and drawing defenders towards you could be the causes?

Combining this knowledge with fast passing, you can launch a great attack from a goal-kick in PES.

Instead of pumping the ball upfield, play a short goal kick to CB. CB waits for opponent to approach, pass to SB. As opponent approaches, pass to SM or CM. Once it gets crowded, play a quick pass to SS/ST or a great dribbler, and dribble your way towards goal for a shot.

In summary, the key would be drawing opponents towards you, passing the ball pass them to a free player, and releasing a quick ball to a dribbler to move up towards goal.

Hope this tip could be a solution for you.

    Hello abouzar!

Glad i could be of help.

Well I played on PC version before.
The advantage is that you have more buttons at your disposable, allowing you to do more trick.
Such as controlling a player while the ball is in the air with just one key, instead of tapping it so many times on the PSP haha.
And the DIVE option is really fun isnt it ? 🙂

    Hi Neo
Yes Diving IS fun. But just for having fun. I don’t use it actually in real games. you must be a very talented player to do that trick without getting a yellow card and in unfortunate situations u may get the second one and be kicked out.
I have played pes since almost a long time. i started playing by Pes5
and went on pes 6 which i played the most but never played pes 08.
You know I think one of the most important things you have to do to play a fluent game is just to memorize the players Pass Accuracy and Their Shoot Accuracy and Shoot Power. It’s done a great help to me since I’ve memorized all my players stats in these factors.
It’s almost useless trying to make a through pass with a player whose Pass Accuracy is less than 75 most of the times specially when its not likely for the forward to get the ball and you’re not sure whether to pass or just turn around and make a normal short pass to a player who you’re sure he’ll get it.
Anyway I just wanted to share some of my experiences with you and i hope it will help.
    Great Regards

    Hello Abouzar.

Wow haha I started playing around same time as you. I think is called PES 4. I was playing mainly FIFA before that.. till i happen to get PES 4, and the series became my main game man!
Though occasionally play FIFA once in a while for fun and for the vibrant colours haha. You play FIFA?

Diving is just for fooling around haha. But i heard that if the keeper is approaching you, you could make a successful dive 🙂 I m not an expert in the PC version anyway haha.

Wow you must be good memorising the stats! Mainly after playing a number of matches, I believe we would be able to know the different abilities of your players, like who can dribble fast, do long shots and stuff.
And get familiarize with the style of play of some players.
I know INTER is rather strong, with Adriano bulldozing pass players followed by a rocket shot, and Ibrahimovic producing curling shots into the far post outside the box.

These Give us players a true sense of satisfaction isnt it!?

    hi neo
i have played two series of fifa.
the first one was the old one. fifa 98 that was a good experience i had. but the last series i played was fifa 07 but never played it since then.
i’m nuts about pes and i dont think i would switch to fifa at all.
you know one of the things that really bothers me about fifa is the speed of its menue. in pes when u just click on a menu u just go there without any miss of seconds. without any animation effects like fading into another menu and if there is its of a very little value that is not noticed at all.
but its something different in fifa (the last time i remember) especially in changin formation and substitution. in general i dont like the fifa interface at all
but pes is something different that gives you the most information with a classified value of the importance of the data u see on the screen. specially in formation screen.
    thats for me for now.
hope to see more of you.
    thanks a lot
